Bad Arolsen is interesting at any time of year

The Bad Arolsen region

Bad Arolsen is located on the German Half-Timbered House Route in the central region - from the Weserbergland through northern Hesse to the Vogelsberg and Spessart. Under the motto "Half-timbered houses connect", almost 100 half-timbered towns have now joined forces to show all interested visitors the importance of this fascinating style of construction. The German Half-Timbered House Route not only connects unique landscapes, historic sites and lovingly restored monuments, but above all the people who live and work there.

Art & Culture

The baroque Bad Arolsen residential palace is considered a landmark of the town of Bad Arolsen and invites you to take a guided tour of the palace. Take a historical tour of Bad Arolsen and be inspired by a young town with old traditions. Visit the Christian Daniel Rauch Museum or birthplace, the Kaulbachhaus Museum, the Schreibersches Haus Museum. Stroll through the tree park (formerly the “Boskett” palace park), which was created after the palace was completed and planted with a variety of plants, especially exotic conifers. Visit the new palace, which was built as a widow's residence for Christiane by master builder Franz Friedrich Rothweil from 1764 to 1778 and was furnished with a Rococo interior.

Take a break at the “Schloßbrunnen” healing spring – a calcium-magnesium-sulphate water – which was drilled in 1972/73 at a depth of around 400 metres in the castle park. The healing water regulates gastric juices, stimulates intestinal function, eliminates disorders of the gallbladder and liver function and is ideal for restoring general wellbeing in the event of digestive system disorders. Stroll through romantic half-timbered districts with numerous historic houses and then stop off at a cosy café or restaurant.

Enjoy the Bad Arolsen Baroque Festival. In this annual festival, which has an impact beyond Germany, the spirit of the Baroque period comes to life in the ambience of the former residence of the Princes of Waldeck and Pyrmont. As a feast for the eyes and ears, every year it presents an important European musical landscape and breathes life into the idea of Europe. The BAC Bad Arolsen Theater - Culture offers a year-round cultural program - theater, music, cinema and exhibitions. Castle concerts, spa concerts, Baroque Festival, International Youth Music Festival, Small Museum Night, "Autumn Notes" wine festival and Christmas market.
